Exploring South West Rocks - Part 1

Some dear neighbours and friends of ours generously let us stay in their holiday home in South West Rocks back in February 2023. We dubbed it ‘Jarrad’s birthday week’ because we planned two small getaways in this particular week in Feb with Jarrad’s birthday smack bang in the middle. The birthday week was also my way of giving the gift of ‘presence’ instead of an actual present. I know, very cheesey.

The whole week was spent resting and relaxing and exploring little places here and there. When I finally decided to take my camera out (on our very last day), the rest proved to be exactly what I needed to get back into my Sony 90mm macro f2.8. It’s sometimes a love-hate relationship with that lens… well not love-hate, more love-frustration. And the only way to fall back in love with it is rest, get good light, experiment, repeat.

So on that note, here are some vintage-esque experiments featuring the beauty of South West Rocks and the birthday boy.
